The site displays a mosaic shoe made of tiny images and image links to something Japanese on the web today. By clicking on tiles, visitors are then taken to one of the 150 Japan related websites crawled by the site spider. The links are updated every hour, and compose everytime a different shoe model which changes in the color palette according to the content linked.
Nice site because it’s somehow useful, and allows visitors to discover new, hidden, websites Japanese related. Of course, it’s also a smart way for Onitsuka Tiger to “cash” on user-generated content without much of an effort…

As the average person is bombared with hundreds, even thousands of ads per day, we are getting better at turning off and tuning them out. With only 14% of traditional campaigns now having any effect at all, Word of Mouth marketing is starting to catch on in the US and now the UK.

This works by companies sending free samples to a volunteer, who is encouraged to spread the message to their peers. As peer recommendation is the most influential driver to purchase, it has so far been effective…

Following the PS3 launch in Australia last night there are a number of conflicting stories in the media. Here’s some links to the different sites and videos. Make your own mind up on who’s telling the truth…
Kotaku thought they were in the wrong place.
Gamespot Australia couldn’t find them…

…But Channel Seven and Yahoo would have you believe otherwise…

Perhaps a more accurate version events was described by the Sydney Morning Herald:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/games/crowds-go-mild-for-ps3/2007/03/23/1174153291466.html
“The launch of Sony’s PlayStation 3 games console got off to a feeble start last night with officials, media and security outnumbering customers for most of the evening.”
It’s incredible (and rather sad) that the same story can be reported so differently by the press. Lucky for Sony, they have a $6million launch budget. That will get you a long way in Australia.
Flashback: Xbox 360 Launch last year. The rain didn’t stop the crowds…

Is this the worst ever data wipeout? A technician in the Alaska State Revenue Office manages to delete $48 billion dollars worth of data, and then accidently formats the backup drive. They then find that backup tapes are unreadable. Ouch.

Commodore (the brand) is back … but in the form of custom gaming PC’s. The original Commodore went bankrupt in 1994, but the various commodore brands have been sold off and acquired by various parties before “Commodore Gaming” aquired the title brand in 2005. Much like Atari (purchased by Infogrames in 2001) we are looking at a brand that has nothing left from the glory days other than the classic logo. Are we really supposed to believe otherwise?
Sorry, but for me I have a muted reaction to this. The C64, Vic20 and the PET were hardware innovation and breakthrough products - but what we’re seeing here is a retro brand slapped on someone else’s product which to me offers no real innovation.

The new Gaming PC’s. Giant Robot stole my Commodore64.
The C64 was a cornerstone in the forming the home PC market.

This “PET” was my first computer (sigh…) Check out the inbuilt tape recorder.
Now that’s innovation.
The hilarious boys from “The Chaser” (Australian comedic protagonists) hit the US streets and ask some simple questions of the ordinary US public. “How many sides does a triangle have? Name a country beginning with ‘U’”. Great viewing. To cap it off, in feb 2007 the Chaser team were included on the official list of terrorists prior to Dick Cheney’s visit to Australia in Feb. Go Chaser!
These two guys have managed to get their Wii working outside by using the power of the sun.
Imagine being able to play the Wii in the park or at the beach.

Claiming 160,000 clips have been viewed 1.5 billion times and infringing their copyright, Viacom sues for $1.5b ( $1 per view?). Internet users on Digg are already calling others to boycott Viacom, labelling them Big Greedy Babies and wondering why the hell Viacom don’t know free advertising when they see it.
It’s interesting to view how the majority of other companies are desperate to get their content viewed on YT and will PAY to do so. Is this something Viacom should think about?
Now this is just my opinon, but I cannot understand why companies fail to embrace the medium and resist the tide of change. Companies create entertainment content for people to watch. How they watch, where they watch, how they find it, is now in the domain of the consumer. We now live in the recommendation age, not the information age. The game has changed. Don’t fight it, work with it.
Programming makes for beautiful art with Nova and Magnetosphere by Robert Hodgin of Flight404

It is tricky to get around, but not impossible. I’m pretty sure we’ll see some collision detection, weapons and enemies at the rate this development is traveling.
The trailer was amazing but check out what the actors went through to get their bodies in shape:
Maybe Amnesia should start a program like that ![]()
