Google Unveiling Gphone - wants to Change the Cellphone Industry

October 31, 2007
clipped from www.techconsumer.com

Google CellphoneThe Wall Street Journal (subscription required) is quoting “people familiar with the matter” in stating that within two weeks Google will announce plans to bring Google-powered phones to market by the middle of next year. Apparently, Google’s goal is “[T]o make applications and services as accessible on cellphones as they are on the Internet.”

Google-powered phones will come already configured with a bundle of the most popular Google services, such Google search, Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail. But that would just be the beginning. The idea would be to stimulate a community of independent software developers that have the necessary tools to build additional phone features.

Bash stuff in time with the music! :D

The gameplay visuals are really immersive and well executed. It’s made by EA as a viral campaign for the Def Jam: Icon PS3/Xbox 360 game.

FYI - the multiplayer mode runs off a Java server app called SmartFoxServer - would be great to look into this for a future project.

Deconstructing Lichtenstein

David Barsalou has a lot of time on his hands… So much time infact that he has spent the last 25 years of his life closely examining every single illustration in over 30,000 comic books with the sole purpose of uncovering the original source material for the work of 1960s Pop Art icon Roy Lichtenstein. So far he has sourced about 140 specific illustrations that Lichtenstein has blown up and sold for mega bucks.
