Wow, Turquoise! Personally my guess would have been a tint of Orange or Yellow.
Designers (& enthusiasts): Do you agree with Turquoise being the colour for 2010?
What colour trends have you noticed and see for the upcoming year?
The MIT Lab has shown off a new kind of display that not only is capable of the usual multitouch functions, but also recognizes gestures in front of the device like we know from minority report.
Pretty cool I say – still a bit slow in the video, but already pretty awesome for a prototype.
You make a really quiet vacuum cleaner and implement an iPod dock and speakers.
and then you sell it by making a report about how you clean your house faster, more thorough and you also loose weight doing it.
Check out the Elektrolux UltraSilencer
here are some insights into the study
great study – but I am sure I read somewhere that people think their vacuum doesn’t clean properly when they don’t hear the all so familiar sound of sucking.
What do you get if you take a ukulele, a 6 year old and the most popular song of 2008?
Forget kittens & unicorns, this video is pretty much one of the cutest things we’ve ever seen.
At over 540,000 views in 5 days, we predict he’ll be at well over two million by mid next week!
Got a recipe for a better viral video? We’d love to hear it!

When I get around the web I come across heaps of cool things that due to lack of time never really make it onto our blog, but I thought I share these 2 concepts with you as I think they are awesome and deserve to be mentioned because they make the world a safer and greener place.
The countdown traffic light
I have seen traffic lights with big number displays next to them telling you when it will turn green again, but this concept is so much simpler and makes a lot of sense.
The designer Damjan Stanković sees his idea saving energy — when motorists know there’s plenty of time until the light turns green, they’ll shut their engines off to conserve fuel.
I like it and it should be implemented everywhere. found here
The laser wall pedestrian lights
The Virtual Wall is designed as a replacement for traffic lights and if made would use "plasma laser beams" to project silhouettes of moving people into the path of oncoming traffic.
Supposedly this would calm traffic and make drivers more careful around the soft humans as they cross the street.
the concept is simple in theory but making lasers appear like that would require something for the lasers to be reflected on and the price for one of these is probably more than the normal traffic light which means it will never see the day of light.
Too bad I think it would improve safety on our streets for pedestrians. found here
Was it a hoax, photoshop filter, rocket gone wrong, UFO or a strange atmospheric condition never seen before? Maybe it’s just another excuse for a Kanye West gag albeit a few months late. You be the judge: Here’s an articles + videos:
Here’s a real world test on Google’s latest functionality – real time search results. There’s been a lot of hype over Google’s announcement that it now has ‘real time’ functionality. You can read the announcement (here). Below is Google’s promo video on how it works in case you missed it:
The real world test:
How well does it work? In the video below I’m using my Twitter account (@eunmac) to enter a tweet which contain the words GOOGLE, REAL, TIME, SEARCH. I already have a ‘real time search’ window open looking for these words and the theory is that the moment Google has indexed my tweet, it should show on-screen (no need for a refresh). The video is shot using Camtasia, and recorded/plays for as long as it took for the results to show.
Result: It took Google 52.3 seconds to display my tweet in this instance. Not exactly “real time” but pretty good. Of course this is a one off test and the result should be taken with a pinch of salt. We’ll be evaluating speed in a more quant manner over the next few weeks.
How do I do a real time search in Google? A couple of people have asked me how you get to the real time search results. Here’s how: Step 1: Search for something from Google main page. Step 2: In the Blue bar click [Show Options] Step 3: Under the LHS menu that appears, click “Latest” under the “Any time” section.
Having just blogged and tweeted about Pepsi changing it’s name to Pecsi, I was delighted to see that Google’s real-time search (soon to be the most over-used phrase in digital) does exactly what it says on the tin. Here’s the proof:
Here’s the official post from Google’s blog. More discussion to follow.
Message from Razorfish President of Asia Pac, Lee Sherman:
“Six weeks into the Razorfish acquisition by Publicis, the integration planning is complete, and I have to say that I’m impressed with the speed and thoughtfulness of this work. The mantra throughout the process was to organize to bring the greatest possible service and value to clients. One aspect of the integration plan that had the potential to trip us up was how to best use the new-found digital scale of Digitas and Razorfish to benefit clients. We landed upon a solution whereby the two brands would combine back-office services, such as Finance, HR, IT Support, real estate, etc. in order to gain efficiency, which allow us to make further investments in critical client-facing roles.
How does this translate locally to Digitas and Amnesia Razorfish in Australia? Well, the most obvious impact will be around facilities. Amnesia Razorfish is very likely moving locations to Walsh Bay to be near our sister agency(s) allowing us to combine the back-office functions mentioned above. Additionally, Digitas can tap into the best of breed talent of Amnesia Razorfish to service clients as the Digitas brand expands in Australia. Naturally, we will maintain the integrity of the two separate brands, making all collaborative work completely transparent to the client. I’m extremely pleased with these developments all around, and look forward to putting this plan into motion.”
