Obviously another attempt from Google to improve search results to save my computer from dangerous sites. This incident occured around 2:15am on Saturday and effected all searches.

I strongly believe Google may harm my computer. That’s why I use Yahoo.

While I find it vaguely reassuring that even Google can get it wrong sometimes (and there’s a good explanation of what went awry here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/jan/31/google-blacklist-internet ), what on earth were you searching for in the early hours of the morning?

Disabling “safe browsing” is one of the first things I do with a fresh Firefox. To do so yourself:
    1. Type ‘about:config’ without quotes into your address bar.
    2. Type ‘safebrowsing’ without quotes into the filter bar.
    3. Double click
    browser.safebrowsing.enabled
    and
    browser.safebrowsing.malware.enabled
    to set them to false.

    Gary.

“when an engineer tried to add one web address to the list of those deemed suspicious, and mistakenly added them all.”

hope he wasn’t doing it manually 😛
