How do those 2 fit together you ask? Microsoft has teamed up with Lionsgate to show off the latest HTML5 techniques (movie-like effect: stream, lens flare and video projections) and to promote IE9.
I had some issues getting onto the page, but I think it is because it is making the rounds in the internet and everybody is checking it out.
Nevertheless it is a pretty nifty and beautiful site and you have the ability to connect it to your facebook and your friends appear on billboards and screens.
The site also gives you some exclusive movie content and there are 2 easter eggs that reveal 2 never before seen clips.
1. In the Control Room you can type in “ivolunteer” on your keyboard after clicking on the map section
2. In the Avenue of Tributes you can click on Katniss and then Peeta to reveal a clip from the training center
I can’t wait for the movie to come out as it looks great and it looks like HTML5 is being pushed to its boundaries on this site.
Australia Post has just released a national campaign to promote parcel delivery services to small and medium online businesses in Australia.
The campaign uses a metaphor to represent the different products and services that small businesses may provide. The metaphor, called “ZING”, is a red furry ball that comes in any size.
The campaign will launch with television, online film, press, outdoor, digital and DM. Amnesia Razorfish has done the digital work of the campaign. The ZING website was built in HTML5.
OK OK that might have been a not quite true statement (yet), but the google labs have a little tool called swiffy that converts Flash SWF files to HTML5, allowing you to reuse Flash content on devices without a Flash player (such as iPhones and iPads).
Swiffy currently supports a subset of SWF 8 and ActionScript 2.0, and the output works in all Webkit browsers such as Chrome and Mobile Safari. If possible, exporting your Flash animation as a SWF 5 file might give better results.
Still in the early stages, but definitely promising. Hopefully soon it will support Actionscript 3, slice scaling, Scenes, Filters and advanced text rendering.
Don’t have a smartphone, iPad or Android tablet? But you do want to play this “Angry Birds” thing that people keep talking about?
Chrome to the rescue!
The folk over at Rovio have ported their smashingly popular game to the Chrome browser, and it’s 100% built in HTML5. Very, very neat.
If you haven’t given this simple physics based bird-hurler a whirl, why not see what all the fuss is about? Won’t cost you a dime, and is playable in both standard and high definition.
Either click the picture above, or this link, and you’ll go straight there. Enjoy!
I was stoked when I read the news a few month back and a few days ago the first TAT apps on the playbook were shown off and they are beautiful and show off what the playbook is capable off.
to note is that the weather app is written in HTML5 and the hardware does all the physics and accelerometer movements – sweet
here they are in action:
here is a nice long one for you
Can’t wait for some more stuff from TAT and playbook
We all like music, right? I mean, some of us profess to enjoy it more properly, appropriately or adequately than others – this here Superior Hipster for example:
…but when you get down to it, pretty much everybody likes it.
So, we all want more of it, right? Thus the dawn and success of the iPod, and various other MP3 players. We could carry our thousands of tunes with us everywhere we went, beautiful.
Read on through my rambles to find out what I think the best music streaming service available to Australians is (so far). Read the rest of this entry »
